Freeware hosting aka Shareware hosting
While searching for a freeware hosting service (also refered to file hosting) I cam across
eXaserve, a service centric premium file hosting service primarely targeted at Software publishers, or anybody that needs to host large files. We provide robust hosting at a low price tag. We have mutliple servers over the world connected over an intranet P2P network for near
0 seconds of downtime per year.
Their hosting is bundled with a lot of services too :
- Real-time statistics (over a Windows application)
- Submission of your program to shareware repositries (Download.com, Tucows etc)
- Cheap Bandwidth
- High availability
- Ban Warez and crack sites
- Easy to use Control panel (Pad_file.xml upload)
- Statistics (Downloads per countires, sites, hours etc)
- free Account Setup
- apparently more is to come (newsletter offer for those persons that download)
The claims are bold to say at least, since they have live support on their site (upper right) I chatted with one of the guys that created the service. Apparently they come right FROM thefreeware "scene" they were quite sucessfull though. One of them has a freeware business and one of them multiple hosting businesses, they know what they are up to ;)
Although their price is 0,40USD per GIGABYTE and you can get better deals with dedicated servers these do not include as much services and tips from the owners of exaserve. They have enough experience to really guide you in this field.
And they do it for free too !So I went ahead and signed up, I will use the
first free month to test them, I'll post updates here.
